BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Stephen Roberts – Chair
Stephen joined the McTague Law Firm as a Partner in January of 2010. He attended the University of Windsor where he received his LL.B. Stephen is one of only eleven professionals in Ontario certified as a Specialist in Workplace Safety and Insurance Law by the Law Society of Upper Canada. Stephen assists employers with WSIB audits, and advises employers regularly on their obligations under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, the Human Rights Code, and the Employment Standards Act, including advice on return to work, accommodation and severance of employment issues.
Sean White – Vice Chair/Treasurer
Sean is a director of wealth management and the branch manager of the ScotiaMcLeod Windsor Office. A graduate of the University of Windsor, Mr. White has been a financial advisor with ScotiaMcLeod since 1999. For almost a decade, Mr. White served in various roles on the board of the Art Gallery of Windsor and the Windsor Regional Hospital Foundation finance committee. He is currently a board member and treasurer for the Ontario Arts Council in Toronto. A lifelong resident of Windsor, Sean and his wife Jennifer live in Lasalle with their two children Abigail and Nolan. He is very excited to become part of the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation and assist his community in the battle against cancer.
Sandra Bohn – Secretary
Sandra is a graduate from the University of Windsor with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and a minor in English Literature and a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Humber College. She is the Director of Marketing Operations with Caesar’s Windsor. She is happy to offer her marketing experience and enthusiasm and is truly honoured for the opportunity to serve on the board.
Chris Houser – Director
Chris is the Dean of Science at the University of Windsor, and Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. Chris graduated from the University of Guelph with a BSc in Environmental Science (1997) and MSc in Geography (1999) before moving to the University of Toronto for a PhD in Geography (2003). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship with the Geological Survey of Canada in Victoria, BC, before starting as an Assistant Professor at the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida. In 2007, he moved to Texas A&M University and was promoted to Associate Professor (2011) and Full Professor (2016). Chris has been married to Tina, an Early Childhood Educator, for 14 years. They have two children, Jonathan 12 and Alexandra 10. Chris is excited to be part of the WCCF and is looking forward to the opportunity to building awareness of the Foundation in the community and building capacity for cancer research and care.
Theresa King – Director
Theresa is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. She has had her practice in the Belle River area since 2006. She has also held a variety of roles for the company’s regional leadership team. Prior to joining Edward Jones, Theresa worked for Union Gas in their finance dept. Theresa is also involved with the Elder College in teaching educational workshops in finance and estate planning. She has also served on the Belle River BIA as a board member for 5 years prior to stepping down in the spring of 2016. Theresa and her husband David Richards live in the Belle River area. She truly enjoys helping people and is honoured to serve as a board member.Mike Naccarato – Director
Mike started his financial career at Canada Trust in 1992 as a part-time teller while attending University of Windsor. He gradually moved into an Account Manager position and then in 1998 took over as District Manager, Business Banking until 2004. Mike then moved to CIBC as Senior Business Advisor at the Howard Medical Centre. Since 2007 Mike has been with RBC focusing on Health Care Practitioners. Mike sits on the Windsor Cancer Research Group and chairs the RBC Charity Golf Tournament. Mike is married to Krista and Krista works in the Clinical Trials at the Cancer Centre.Colleen Reaume – Director
Colleen is a graduate of the Master of Arts in Healthcare Leadership from Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC . She holds an active professional designation of Certified Health Executive through the Canadian College of Health Leaders. For over 30 years, Colleen’s career has been dedicated to the Windsor Regional Cancer Program (WRCP) starting from the front line roles to a member of the WRCP Senior Leadership Team. Over the years Colleen has had operational responsibility in systemic therapy, pharmacy, palliative care, psycho-social oncology, out-patient clinics, and so much more. Most recently Colleen assumed the role of Regional Director in Erie St. Clair LHIN for cancer related services. Since 2014 she has been a member of the NCCE Board of Directors and has specialized training in palliative care. Colleen is married to Tom and they have 2 children. Dr. Sindu Kanjeekal – Ex-Officio
Monica Staley – Ex-Officio
Monica began her career as a registered nurse until her consulting work with Pediatric Advanced Life Support and her interest in law lead to becoming a Medical Legal Consultant and Lawyer Associate. In 2010, she became the Director of Patient Relations/Legal Affairs at WRH, until her appointment in April 2015 as Regional Vice President, Cancer Services, WRH and ESCRCP.
WHO WE ARE
The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteers, some of them former cancer patients. Our first goal was to raise funds to equip and enhance the planned new Windsor Regional Cancer Centre and thus ensure that it was one of the finest in the province. With that accomplished, our Foundation became the official fund raising arm of the Cancer Centre, fulfilling the requests of the Cancer Program for state-of-the-art equipment and patient amenities.
In 2009, we launched two additional initiatives: the Patient Assistance Fund, providing short-term financial aid to cancer patients with demonstrated needs, thus reducing their stress, and our annual and professionally administered Seeds4Hope grants program supporting excellent local cancer research. Both were achieved while maintaining our commitment to support cancer care here in our community.
Thanks to tremendous community support, our Foundation has to date raised more than 28 million dollars! The Regional Cancer Program has the right tools to deliver the best possible diagnosis and treatment to cancer patients, right here in our community!
Our Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and operates at arm’s length from local medical institutions, while working closely with them. Our office is located off the lobby of the Cancer Centre and is staffed during office hours.
