Local Cancer Patients Are Facing Financial Hardship

In light of this financially devastating reality, the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation created the Patient Assistance Fund. This fund is accessible for emergency use when all other forms of financial assistance are not available. It is very challenging for most to even come forward and ask for assistance. Patients need support to purchase fresh food; pay for transportation to treatment; and access funds to cover medical and dental expenses. Requests for support from the Patient Assistance Fund are assessed by Social Workers within the Windsor Regional Cancer Program.

This Holiday Season, Help Patients Like Kathleen

Kathleen is a vibrant young woman. She was newly engaged, and focused on getting her career off the ground when she received her brain cancer diagnosis.

“Ensuring I had groceries was a top priority for me, as food was the means to give my body the fuel necessary to help my fight.”

Kathleen, local cancer patient

While she’s fortunate to have a positive prognosis, Kathleen needed to take a leave from both of her jobs to recover from brain surgery. Kathleen knew this would be financially crippling, yet she had to find a way to keep her body strong.
