The Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation provides funding to the Windsor Regional Cancer Program to purchase equipment that is not covered by the province. Here are a few examples of state-of-the-art equipment that has been funded by the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation:

MRI Machine

A medical imaging technique that uses a magnetic field and computer-generated radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues in the body. Funds were also raised to construct the MRI Suite and invest in the Breast Coil attachment.

ct simulator

CT Simulator

Real-time, 3-D treatment planning system, which consists of a CT scanner, a multi-image display, a treatment planning device with real time visual optimization and a laser beam projector. Used to determine the best possible treatment plan for cancer patients.

davinci robot

Da Vinci Robot

Facilitates surgery using a minimally invasive approach and is controlled by a surgeon from a console. Allows prostate cancer patients to receive less invasive and less painful surgery with quicker recovery and lower risk of post-operative complications than conventional surgery.


Brachytherapy Equipment

Items purchased include a cystoscope, camera system, stabilizer, steppers, stirrups, and much more. Brachytherapy equipment is used for internal radiation therapy to effectively treat prostate cancer patients.



A scope used in common exams performed by our Oncologists to give them a close-up view of the larynx and throat. This allows the Oncologists to provide outstanding care to our head and neck cancer patients.

  • High resolution ultrasound used for treatment planning and options for prostate cancer patients, including a bladder scanner and ultrasound guided equipment
  • Videoconferencing equipment for telemedicine appointments and Multidisciplinary Cancer Conferences
  • (MCCs) where patient cases are discussed with multiple disciplines such as Radiology, Pathology and Oncology
  • Laparoscopy Tower used for endoscopy procedures
  • Blood pressure machines
  • Navigator Gamma Guidance System used to locate and map tumours
  • Faxitron Digital Specimen Radiography System used for capturing and saving electronic photos during procedures
  • Refrigerated centrifuge used in Clinical TrialsMulti-head microscope
  • Tissue processor for prostate cancer patients
  • Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) used to diagnose lung cancer
  • Various equipment required for the PET/CT Scanner, including a defibrillator, blanket warmer, and more
  • Dictation system for electronic patient charting
  • Various computers, including Artificial Intelligence computer, used for treatment planning, research, patient charting, and more
  • Communications system for Call Centre to accept calls and assist patients

  • Flowmeters to assist in delivering chemotherapy

  • Dry heat warming drawer for thermoplastics which is required for patients with head and neck cancers
