Pamela Gebrayel 2024 Show Us Your Brave Ambassador
Pamela shares her story about battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma back in 2012, and the devastating diagnosis she received a decade later. Pamela, not usually one for the spotlight, says she’s showing bravery by opening up and sharing her story.
“How Is That Even Possible?”
After being told she was in remission, Pamela would face another setback a decade later.
Her cancer had returned. “How is that even possible” she thought.

“When they told me it was Hodgkin’s Lymphoma again, I was a little bit grateful that it was something I already had. It was how I had to justify in my head.”
Pamela Gebrayel Braves Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Twice.
On February 14th, 2012, Pamela celebrated being told she was “cancer free” after being diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. Now a decade later, her world would be turned upside down again.
In January 2022, the morning after her annual mammogram, Pamela received a concerning call that she needed to go back for follow up scans.
What the scans revealed shocked Pamela. “How is that even possible?” After a ten-year remission, her cancer had returned.
Despite the daunting news, Pamela found herself feeling oddly grateful because she had overcome the diagnosis once before. Surely she could do it again.
“It’s just how I had to justify it in my head”.
Pamela had to travel to London for a Stem Cell Transplant, an experience that tested her emotionally as she grappled with being away from her family and support network. For her, the hardest part of treatment was being separated from her familiar comforts.
“There’s nothing like being home and being in your own bed and your own space when you don’t feel well.”
Receiving care at the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre, Pamela remains grateful despite navigating recent health scares.
“I’m still on edge, but like everything in my life, ‘Onward’ is a really good word for it – you just keep pushing and you just keep going.“
